“My name is Ivan Adams, I am 14years old and a Year 10 Student at Mercury Bay Area school. I was passed on your details by Gary Bancroft, I am looking for support in ways of sponsorship to get to the USA this year for golf and was told you may be able to help.”

“I am fundraising at the moment with the hope to get the to the Junior World Champs, representing New Zealand Under 14s for golf in June/July in America, There are 3 tournaments that I have qualified to play in, World Stars Junior Worlds in Las Vegas 28-30June, IMG Junior World Champs in San Diego 11-15 July and the FCG Callaway Junior World Champs Palm Springs 18-20 July. I qualified by winning the World Stars of Golf North Island Tournament at my home club The Dunes Matarangi Golf course and coming 2nd in the World Stars of Golf New Zealand Tournament under 14s at Windross Farm Golf Resort in Ardmore.

We are running raffles for products and services kindly donated by friends and businesses, we are also having a Fundraising Ambrose Golf Tournament at my home club The Dunes to raise funds for this trip. My goal is to raise $20k to pay for airfares, accommodation, travel and food expenses for 3 weeks in America  and entry fees into these tournaments.

It will be an amazing opportunity to chase my dream of being a professional golfer and to play for New Zealand on the world stage.

What I would like to accomplish from going to America is to be World champion but also I am looking forward to representing New Zealand. I think it would be a good experience to be able to play on some PGA level courses and see how different it is over there.

I have been playing golf for about 4 years, I started on a 26 handicap and now I am currently sitting at a 4, my goal is to be a scratch handicap by the end of the year. Before I played golf I was playing rugby, I was Captain of the rep teams and MVP for my last year but then I started getting headaches so I got a MRI done and they they found a bubble on my brain so i had to stop playing contact sports so i ask my dad and mum if i could play golf and here we are. In my short golf career so far I have been very fortunate to be able to travel and play at some amazing golf courses around New Zealand. I went to Queenstown to play in the New Zealand under 13s in 2019, with a broken finger I came 5th and then I Won the Taupo Masters Under 15s in 2020, I have made the Waikato Interprovincial rep team and Played their Under 16 number 1 against the other number ones across the country and I won 1 out of 2 of my matches, I have also qualified (in 2020) to play in the Australian Junior Masters in the GoldCoast, but unfortunately like a lot of tournaments they have been postponed because of COVID.

I am the only Junior golf member at both my home club The Dunes Matarangi and Mercury Bay golf Club where I train most days of the week. I am runner up at both clubs for the annual Club Champs playing against all the senior golfers. My goal this year is to be number 1.

I have been enjoying school a lot lately. I am currently a year 10 at Mercury Bay Area School, At school I am pursuing Business studies, PE and Personal Physical Development, Those 3 are my favourite subjects. In Year 6 I won Sportsman of the Year and I have won The Ennis Golf Trophy for golfer of the year 3 years in a row. I would say I am a very sporty and competitive person and I am a very independent person.

I like to train between 4 to 6 times a week and play two 18 rounds a week, I would like to go to University in America and being able to go to these tournaments in America, I could get a scholarship opportunity.
